Connie Noyes
Having moved 42 times in my life, I consider myself a 21st Century nomad. Through study, travel and geographical faux pas, I have developed an interest in the unconscious psychology of culture and ways in which art can support dialog and bypass cultural differences. It is these life-altering experiences, mixed with the everyday, which fuels my art.
Through sponsorship by numerous international artist’s residencies and symposiums, my interest in culture and global art dialog continues to gain support. The residencies include Emaar International Art Symposium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (2005), the Thupelo International Workshop in Cape Town, South Africa (2005) and the 6th Annual International Symposium of Art in Bulgaria (2006). Last year (2007) I participated in the 5th International Visual Arts Symposium in Monastir, Tunisia and this year (2008) I attended the 15th Visual Arts Symposium in Montenegro sponsored by the Association of Fine Arts Belgrade-Serbia and Montenegro. This year, 2009, I was in Paris for five weeks working and researching a video project for HUMAN STEPS and in Waldkirchen Germany as an artist in residence. In May 2009, I exhibited HUMAN STEPS in Jenbach Austria as part of a three-person exhibition at galerie frei raum
Born in Washington D.C., I currently live and work as a full time artist in Chicago. I received my MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and MA degree in Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont California.
